S&P 500 Nears 1400

Blue-chip stocks squeezed out a sixth consecutive gain a day after the Federal Reserve's latest "stress tests" of the biggest U.S. banks.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average edged up 16.42 points, or 0.1%, to 13194.10. The Standard & Poor's 500-stock index slipped 1.67 points, or 0.1%, to 1394.28, snapping a five-day winning streak, while the Nasdaq Composite edged up 0.85 point, or 0.03%, to 3040.73.

Technology stocks led the gains, after Apple jumped for a sixth straight day to bring its 2012 advance to 46%. The tech company rose to nearly $595 a share in intraday trading, following favorable comments and price-target upgrades by Wall Street analysts. Apple finished the day up $21.48, or 3.8%, to $589.58.
