Blockbuster (BBI) on Tuesday said it has signed new DVD distribution deals with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment (a unit of News Corp.) and with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SNE) that will ensure the retailer can rent out new films from the studios on the same day they go on sale at retail. The company recently signed a similar deal with Warner Home Video, a unit of Time Warner (TWX).
Blockbuster also said it will get “new enhanced payment terms” from the studios in exchange for a first lien on Blockbuster Canada’s assets.
BBI on Tuesday fell 2 cents, to 25 cents.
